Web Presence Update 2

So, I have a desktop PC now and I’m enjoying my 20″ Samsung P2050 LCD monitor. It means a better gaming and movie experience for me. But it took me a long while to update because setting everything up took me a pretty long while.

Currently, I am using Windows Vista Ultimate for my OS. I have never used Vista before but I’m getting quite the hang of it already. I especially love the sidebar feature!

Sadly though, the program I’m using for my digital scrapbooking (Ulead Photo Express My Scrapbook 2.0) does not work with Vista. I am now forced to learn how to do it in Photoshop. Well, I have already started tinkering in PS CS3, and this is the result.

I’m really looking forward to be more productive now that everything’s bigger and better.

The New (Media) Workout Plan by Patrick Moberg

Sitting in front of your computer all day long is not exercise. It doesn’t in any way help you get fit. In fact, a lot of people who do the same thing everyday have either weight problems or other problems associated with lack of exercise.

I am one of those people. Luckily, obesity is not a problem for me but I often complain of back pains and I found out that I have thoracic dextroscoliosis. I would know if I’ve overworked because I’d feel that throbbing pain on my back. I also feel sluggish most of the time and I know it’s because of lack of exercise.

That’s why when I saw Patrick Moberg‘s New (Media) Workout Plan, I laughed out loud. It sure is going to work for me. If I have a printer, I would’ve printed it, ASAP. Maybe I will just make it my desktop wallpaper.

Patrick’s problem:
I’ve recently found myself checking the following websites an unhealthy amount.

My problem:
Social Media is my job. Whether I like it or not, even if for some it is considered excessive, I have to check and do updates on these websites regularly.

Patrick’s idea:
Every time you open a new tab to check out one of the following websites, stop. Get up from your computer and do the exercise associated with the site you were going to visit. After you complete the exercise, reward yourself by going to the website.

I think it’s great! Although, I’m not sure how long I can possibly keep up with this healthy joke. He! He!

Web Presence Update 1

I have been giving my personal web presence some kind of attention recently.

I started a digital scrapbooking blog this year and I’m glad that I did. I intend to keep it for as long as I can. A few days ago, I organized my keywords, links and lay out. My blog looks a lot better now and the stuff coming out of my Google ads are closely related to my niche.

I also visited other digital scrapbooking blogs, left a note and my link here and there and I didn’t wait long to see them check out my blog.

Besides that, many of my visitors are coming from:

Since then, I had quite a steady flow of visitors into my blog. I am all the more motivated to update my blog, share fresh content and freebies  as often as I can.

I’d really love to keep this thing going so wish me luck, ok? LOL!

Beware: Headline Malware

diecomputerddie_kmevans_smFinally, I’m back. It feels good to be surfing the web again. Just like surfing the waves of an angry body of water, the web also has its share of perils.

I just ran into this news from mxlogic about cybercriminals setting up malware-bearing websites loaded with content about the former Philippine President Cory Aquino. They are looking into attracting web users searching for news of her recent demise. They also use other significant events such as the death of Michael Jackson and the release of the latest Harry Potter movie.

Web security researchers at Trend Micro found several malicious websites yesterday using black hat SEO to drive traffic into their trap, where visitors would be infected by a Trojan downloader, TROJ_FAKEALRT.FK, offering a fake antivirus product.

Spammers also use news events to lure people to click on malicious links or buy phony products, including fake antivirus rogueware.

What I Do And All You Need To Know About It

troycochraneSince I finally decided to quit from the only job I knew and the only work I have been doing since my undergrad days, it’s been a challenge answering questions such as:

- What do you do?
- Where do you work?

Oftentimes, I get a confused look whenever I say “homebased.” I try to explain it the easiest way I could, but even my parents are not really sure about what I do and if I do earn something from it until now. How much more telling that to an acquaintance that I shoot up a 3-minute conversation with?!

WTF Is Social Media: A Year Later

Here’s a cool video about Social Media. Look at how amazing and promising the industry of Social Media is.

“Oh yeah! Hey, have you heard about Social Media… Facebook… Wikipedia… YouTube… Flicker…” only everything is put in one video and I’m not literally talking to you.

That’s Social Media.

And guess what? I will also post this video in Facebook, Tumblr, etc. I’m sure my friends will like it and share this too… and their friends too. It just wouldn’t stop.
